Pearse, Gilbert

Gilbert Pearse grew up on a farm and has been painting and drawing from a young age, winning his first open art contest at the age of 11.

Most of his adult life has been spent in design and the manufacturing of home wares. He taught Karate for 23 years.

His greatest influence is Turner and acclaimed Australian and internationally recognised artist Mel Brigg, also his best friend. He trained with Ryno Swart, art teacher extraordinaire.

He works in acrylic on large canvas, usually depicting expanse of nature. He continually experiments with style and technique and is influenced by space and simplicity.

His viewing public identify with his unique fresh style that evokes emotion and responses not usually expressed. When he is not painting, he enjoys socialising, sailing his yacht and disappearing into the country in his 4x4.

Currently his work can be viewed at selected galleries. His work hangs in private collections throughout South Africa, Germany, U.K., France, Australia, Holland, Australia and the USA.
